About the Artist
Jordan Heidler is a multidisciplinary artist living in Greenville, SC since 2018. Jordan began his creative journey at a young age, and his work has continued to evolve throughout his life. His practice has always been rooted in the intricate beauty of the natural world, the human experience, and the joy he finds in sharing it with others.
Jordan honed his skills through a multifaceted approach to classical realism at the Schuler School of Fine Art in Baltimore, MD, one of the oldest ateliers in the U.S. Focusing on the techniques of the Old Masters, he studied charcoal drawing, sculpture, watercolor, oil painting, and artistic anatomy. Shortly into his five-year education at Schuler, Jordan realized his affinity for watercolor and began to show this medium preference. The in-depth technical instruction at Schuler provided Jordan the freedom to be comfortable pursuing a wide variety of different projects after school, including many outside the realms of classical art. He estimates that he has created nearly 1000 watercolors in the past decade, as well as countless sculptures and other commissioned works of art.
Jordan continues pursuing new mediums and finding ways to make his art attainable to a wider audience. He has redoubled his creative energies by entering into the world of theatrical scenic painting where he has served as a Scenic Charge on numerous productions throughout the Southeast. Inspired by this work, he has embraced narrative storytelling to inform his process and deepen the artistic connection with the viewer.
Most recently, Jordan has been selected for a solo exhibition of a new body of work to be shown in connection with Warehouse Theater’s 52nd season. His work is seen frequently at hyperlocal art pop-ups that aim to serve his community. He also participates annually in Flat Out Under Pressure, a challenging 24 hour painting competition held through the Metropolitan Arts Council. Jordan is a core member and workshop leader of his local chapter of the Urban Sketchers League and helped to plan and hang the group’s first gallery show in September 2025. Jordan loves to collaborate and work with other local creatives, seeking to learn and grow from relationships with peers.
